Craft in the Dijital Age Exhibition | Ford Museum 2022
The Frosting collection is at Craft in the Digital Age.
Part of #DetroitMonthofDesign, “Craft in the Digital Age” explores the meaning and expression of craft in the 21st century through thoughtful and playful juxtapositions with the traditional Ford House collection and the interior architectural features of the 1929 Albert Kahn-designed mansion. Technologically-produced and inspired designed objects and artwork are staged throughout the rooms in the main residence of the Ford House, Edsel and Eleanor Ford’s historic lakeside home in Grosse Pointe Shores. The exhibition provokes questions about the role of technology in contributing to new aesthetic values and trends, the meaning of digital craft, the relationship between tools, materials, cultures and economies, and more.
The exhibition features the work of contemporary Detroit-area artists and designers, as well as students, faculty, and staff from the College of Architecture and Design at Lawrence Technological University, It also features work represented by Embrace Creatives and I.M. Weiss Gallery.
