Loom Divide is a room divider based on the workings of a loom. The screen of warp threads allows for an interchangeable woven design. One can create different levels of visibility and translucency by controlling the amount of layers, the colours used and materials woven. This system allows for an endless array of visual possibilities.

The use of multi-coloured English bakers twine adds to the Moiré effect of the two layers of thread, making it more difficult to look through the screen while still letting light come through. This effect also allows one to have an animated experience of the colours and interference as they walk past.

Loom Divide introduces a traditional and internationally recognisable maker’s device – with a new form – to our contemporary living environment.

For the construction of the loom, no screws or glue are used as the woven threads function as hinges and hold the constructiontogether at the same time. The woven hinges have virtually no friction, which makes it easy to move the screen around. The hinges can fold 360 degrees, which makes Loom Divide foldable to a compact size that is easy to store and transport.
