Installation (Party Sculpture)

Simon Anton

The work for the show is a mini installation. At the center is a 1500lb, clear-walled “gaylord” of colorful shredded plastic flakes. Sitting atop (or emerging from) the pedestal like box of plastic are a number of small sculptural pieces. These pieces are colorful, strange, psuedo-design objects that are made by bending and welding steel rod into a skeleton, applying electricity, and grafting plastic onto the heated frame. There is a large, anthropomorphic piece standing next to the gaylord and there is another piece hanging from the ceiling over it - making a mini-environment, a vibrant explosion of color, texture and form.
